Fellini's got nothing on me. An art director gig brought me to Italy years ago when an old and dear violin making buddy, his eminent violinist friend from the Tokyo Symphony (who spoke no English), an Italian guide (who spoke very little English and zero Japanese) and I roamed the hills and valleys surrounding Torino (with stops to see the Shroud and gobble down gallons of espresso). The purpose which resulted in the 4 of us squished into a little Italian car was to research a famed Violin maker who studied under some pretty cool dudes. The escapade feels like a dream to me now: all hilarity and very little sense, rhyme or reason. Grateful to survive, I returned home to my little ones waiting for me at home, my arms loaded with little espresso cups, wooden toys, colorblock leather shoes and a renewed love for all things Italy.
